Do you have any guilt hanging up on a real person?

As someone who gets hung up on daily, and has cold-called for years- I don't think I could ever hang up on a real person calling me out of the blue. I'm totally fine telling people "no" and politely ending a conversation quickly- but I've been that guy on the other end too many times to slam the red button myself.

Do you have any guilt hanging up on a real person?

Honestly depends on how the call starts (although I rarely answer numbers I don't know anyway).ย  If it's like a 2 second delay before the person starts talking and it's clear they're calling from some dial farm, then I'll hang up.ย  If someone really calls me and intends to reach me individually, I'll give them the time of day.

Absolutely, its not hard to see who is trying and who is auto dialing.ย

I was lucky to live in a remote part of the US and have a unique area code where i do no business, so anyone that tries to Area Code match me i know it is fake and can avoid. never changing phone numbersย

Interesting, I did not think of the auto-dialer as a distinction. Sounds like you get enough cold calls to make a judgement call based on how the call is framed. Those who clearly personalized or have a good reason for calling probably don't get the hang up treatment with you

These options are tough cause sometimes i am expecting a call and its a sales call and i need to get off the line and they are not letting it happen, then no, i dont feel bad. If i do it just to do it then yes, i feel bad and is rare, but would be an auto call and i know its an autodialer and bs.ย

I only hang up (without warning) on scammers. Even if it's a bad pitch, I will still give the person an ounce of respect and let them know I'm not the person to speak with/not interested. Of course, if they keep pushing for a conversation after I've politely said no thanks, I'll say "no thank you, bye" and hang up but I can't think of a situation where I'd literally just hang up after someone introduced themselves or pitched...

I accidentally voted that I felt bad, but I would not feel bad. Someone who is good in sales would keep you on the phone.

I was just with someone who got a call from a person asking if they could read them a daily bible verse, and they hung up. It was completely out of the blue and unexpected, so the person was startled.

depends on the pitch. if its pure BS and they shouldn't have called me, i have no shame in hanging up. if its a good pitch and a well thought out call, i'll listen and be respectful.

Anyone ruined getting a meeting by being too impatient after they suggest times but don't confirm straight away?

I love hanging up on prospects when they're being assholes.
