At my previous job, I would interview potential BDR's. My favorite question to ask is, What is your anxiety level when ordering a pizza?

I had someone answer that their anxiety level goes up the more complicated the order is lol. I love asking that question because it weeds out candidates who won't be good on the phone.

Haha. That’s an easy one for me. 0. Every time. Funny.

Yeah if they answered 0 while laughing, I knew they'd be decent on the phone. In a shocking turn of events, the kid who answered that his anxiety goes up depending on the order did not get the job.

Not to mention that if you don't have the wherewithal to answer that question well, you're gonna be screwed on the phone.

Favorite question when I was interviewing SDR's. It's complete nonsense but made them think on the spot and tell me a little more about their personality.

"If you were a stack of three pancakes, which pancake would you be (top, middle, bottom). And why?"

Another new one. You could make any option work with the right story. What answer were you looking for?

You're exactly right. There's really no correct answer here but I want them come up with something on the spot.
As a BDR on the phone with a prospect, they may not have the perfect answer and they really don't need to. But can they come up with a convincing response to keep the prospect engaged?

And sometimes the answers are funny, so it's entertaining during a mundane interview

I like to ask, “What’s the craziest thing you’ve done?”

If they hesitate I say, “don’t tell me anything you can’t say in an interview.”

It really just helps them open up and allows us in the room to get to know the prospect better. And the answers are super entertaining!

Whats a piece of feedback you have received from a mentor or manager that you did not agree with and what were the ramifications of that situation?

^Love asking this one because it elaborates on coachability.

I ask essentially the same question when being interviewed and when interviewing: "What question haven't I asked you that I should and what is the answer?" Lets interviewees shine on a topic they care about and lets me see what interviewers think about the company.

do you Zig or Zag?

Absolutely no write or wrong answer but gives great context to the quick thinking nature and conviction that a potential teammate has
