Nope. Not too concerned with what the guy in second place is up to.

The sad part is we're a start-up so we're kinda second place because they have 20 sth years in business.

Don't want to sound douchey but the reality is, if you're always trying to compare what you're doing to what your competition is doing you'll likely always be 2nd place. I know that you don't really have that level of say in the positioning of the company but you can control this on a personal level.

I know Elon Musk is a bit of a controversial subject but putting personal opinions of the guy aside, he's extremely successful. He most of the shit he does is open source. If your competition is busy copying they won't be focused on innovating which keeps you miles ahead.

I see your point and is valid, but I didn't join to see what they were doing really. I joined because it was a consulting company giving out a lecture about processes in the industry and halfway through boom competitor presentation. Which made me think if anyone else does spy work.

And yeah, I'm not really sitting here and comparing all the time. I know where our differences lie and why our prospects should jump on a call to learn about what we can do. But again, you're right, we shouldn't be concerned about what the competition is doing

Ahh the snuck that competitor presentation in on you. They pulled an Andy Bernard... The good ol Nard Dog. Yeah that shit happens in my industry a ton. Competitors try to ride the coat tails of some of the big names and get them to agree to give them a few minutes to present.

The only time I really deal with the competition is when I'm swiping swag from their tables at conferences.

I would LOVE to do that, swapping swag exchanging business cards like we're trading pokemon cards, that would be awesome.

I was, but I did learn a lot, and already have a couple of meetings with some of the people that attended.

Definitely not.

I WILL check out a competitor's presentation at a conference though

What's the difference, I'm asking out of bliss, I live outside of the states so going to trade shows isn't really up in the air.

There's often a lot of free time at a conference, plus you can scope out who is attending and try and pitch them at some point.

I don't want to waste my day attending webinars when I'm actively working. Plus I don't want to give them my (work) email...

If I have time, I go to competitor webinars. Most of the time they are like any other webinar that doesn't give a ton of value, but you get to understand their messaging. You can see the types of convos they are pushing for.

Not really something that I need to sit in on. I'd rather use the time more purposefully, like closing another deal and winning over them.

I have only if I am in a big competitive deal against them and I don’t know much about them. You get to hear how the like to position and telling the prospect to

Sometimes. I want to understand their GTM and how they lay traps when competing against us. End of the day I focus on what we bring to the table and make sure I have a smart engineer along for the ride.
