Do you know the names of reps from your competitors?

I have only been in the industry for going on a year here, but I have noticed that many of my coworkers are very familiar with the names of some of the reps from our competitors. Is this something that happens in every industry over time, or just good memory on their part? (I am in the copier industry btw)

There's no reason to know who they are. They will find me fast once I start taking their business.

Pre-pandemic it was common to meet or run into each other in the lobby of the client.

No, the only time I have noticed that someone in my company knows a rep from a competitor is because they previously worked together at a prior company in the past

I know a handful of sellers of my competitor for a couple of reasons:
1. They’re VERY popular on LI. Some have emojis in their names and some just type weird.
2. They’re going upmarket and ignore a big chunk of smaller deals, I get to hear from my prospects how they suck lol

Only allowed to work in the copier industry if you have one of those names 😂
