Do You Meditate?

Had a buddy who also works in sales force me to meditate with him using the headspace app and it was awesome. Curious if other people have found this practice helpful to limiting stress from the job?

I meditate

Prayer over here, too (though let's be honest not nearly as often as I should)

I pray...but it's not the same @Legendary119. Praying is a two-way conversation. 🙏🏻

I do the sleep meditation apps/podcasts etc.

I have done the focus ones, and have been meaning to do more. Thanks for the reminder!

I'm going to look into some good podcasts. Never thought about using a podcast to learn about mediation, but that's a great idea

spotify has some decent ones. Meditation Minis is pretty decent, as is Sleep Cove, others. Depends on what you prefer.

I just got corporate access to Headspace and have been considering it... Is it really that effective?  I'm a skeptic, PLUS my mind moves 1,000,000 miles per hour.  Could an app slow that pace?

My mind is similar, and I've found meditation really helpful. I use Headspace, daily so I'd say go for it.

Meditation isn’t really so much about slowing it as just recognizing and being at peace with it. (Then eventually it may slow down)

I started practising yoga back when I was in high school (I’m in India and that’s pretty normal). I’ve tried to meditate, but I guess I haven’t given it a proper shot. It’s never worked.

Anything y’all suggest I try doing?

I have headspace and alllll the apps. It’s not bad, but you can find all their content on Spotify and/or YouTube for free

Used to often, then once a week, now every other. Aim for 20 minute sessions. I can tell when i have missed it and need it

I haven't gotten into meditation, but mean to take a look at it.

I do try and stretch before bed nightly. Probably happens 3 times a week realistically though. I have a bad back, neck, hips, and generally beat up body. So, the idea is I can become more limber and will sleep easier.

While I stretch I do try and clear my head. Lights are dimmed. Try and do some breathing exercises while I lock into a position for 2 minutes.

So, IDK if that's really mediation, but I'm trying to find ways to relax. i grind my teeth and it's probably related to stress. Maybe it's my breathing trouble (deviated septum), maybe it's the weed.

Sounds like mediation to me. Still a newbie, but I feel like it's something that people can do on their own time at their own pace how they want

Every day. Usually in the mornings, but sometimes before bed or a big presentation. WFH makes it easier.

Headspace is a great app.

Definitely worth it. I've also started practicing mindfulness with a coach. Highly recommended if you can find a good one.

There's a reason pro athletes and teams spend so much on mentality coaches.

"8 Minute Meditation" is a great read, easy walkthrough that builds up to 8 minutes a day, not a huge sacrifice to make considering the return.  meditation takes time and can be frustrating but in relation to sales, is incredibly helpful with dealing with stress and processing.  like physical exercise, it takes time and practice to see and feel the difference but even one workout will make you feel better; meditation is the same.

I use 10% happier. Excellent book and great app as well. The book's about a news anchor who had a panic attack live on TV + found meditiation after that. Worth a read!

Meditation 1000% helps combat the negative self-talk that can be easy to slip into, especially with WFH.
