Do you read sales emails?

As someone who works in sales I like to be on the other side of the table from time to time to live and understand our prospects when they get cold calls or cold emails. So on occasion I won’t unsubscribe from email threads that promise to improve x or help me with y even if I don’t need the product or service just to read the quality of someone else out there.

Does anyone else do this? If so have you found value from these emails?

Do you read cold emails or unsubscribe?

I usually only read the short ones as well, that's why I keep mine as concise and to the point as posible.

If it doesn't catch my attention quick, I won't read it. And then those that do catch my attention, sometimes I reword them and work them into my cadences!

I read videogames/Technology related - everything related to my personal interests. In fact, that helps me tailor a better msg in my daily role.

We have a weird setup where former employees mail gets routed to the whole sales team and I read them all, so that I can learn what not to do because 99% of the time they are pure garbage and whoever wrote them should be ashamed.

I read some that attract my attention (like they should). Mostly to learn what to do and what not to do.

I’m always interested in trying to find out why it resonates with me.  Might be the product or service, might be the subject line, might be the CTA.

Drift got me to buy based on an email, their website and the experience.  It was almost too easy.

I also want to know why I delete them.

yeah, such is life, you can scare them telling them you'll proceed legally if they don't stop spamming. I colleague of mine got this and panicked, never has he taken someone so fast of the list.

I like to read them to see if any of them are good. If I feel that some are on the verge of being really good IMO, I will give my unsolicited advice. It is a good conversation sometimes and sometimes it goes unresponsive.

I constantly skim outreach to see if something catches my eye and I can steal the wording or formatting for my own purposes. When I do find one with content worth ganking, I always respond saying I'm not the person but I appreciate their form and encourage the fellow savage to keep on keeping on.
