I do recommend it, but also, a coach could help. Main difference is the mentor will help you out with his/her experience, and the coach will help become better at what you do by looking within yourself.

In any case, the first step is trying to figure out what specifically you want to get better at, and then deciding if what you need is someone with more experience to share a few thoughts with you, or someone who can ask you powerful questions to find those answers on your own.
