Our reps respond with this template which they can adapt to their own tone of voice. Apart from hire 6 - he has to copy it word for word.ย

"Thanks for taking the time to respond. We donโ€™t have a list; I target a very niche group of buyers experiencing (customer challenge) in the X space, currently working with Y & Z so wanted to share some insight. I completely understand a cold email isnโ€™t a great starting point (but in the current climate I have limited options). ย  Rather than remove you from a list Iโ€™ll add a note to salesforce that you do not wish to be contacted."

Mostly gets ignored but turns around 8% or so.

Yes. I've actually had crazy success with this stupid reply that most salespeople would discourage.

SalesViking, appreciate your response, definitely don't want to bother you and will stop reaching out after this email, was really just thinking you'd be a good fit for us as we work with several companies in your direct space.

I'll leave you with a brief overview but will consider this convo closed.

30% of the time I get the response with, "actually this may be of interest". My guess is in our email cadence they "kind of" know what we do, but when they just read the features, there are usually 1 - 2 things they didn't know we did and now they are interested. Last year, closed 50K from stop reaching out emails.ย

No promises haha. Most sales leaders would say don't feature dump but hell, they already said no. Something you drop might turn some heads.

Had a response to this yesterday "didn't realize you actually pull the data, I thought I'd have to manually upload everything. Snag a time on my calendar link, I'll give you 30-minutes."

A few of those a month and deals will start showing.

Sometimes. Really depends. If it's a higher-up, no - because they can kill the deal. If I'm hunting for prospects to work up the ladder, then I usually respond with a gif

Gif idea is funny, but not productive. Archived immediately I presume. Any actual replies? Seems like a waste of an email if you ask me.

I respond with a quick personalized vidyard calling them by their first name letting them know there is no list and I am just genuinely interested in them (their role, company, etc) and wanted to see if there was an opportunity to help. I end saying the door is open and if thereโ€™s a better time to follow up, let me know.ย

Always - hit them with a quick 'will do' and smile and move onto the next one. Leaves a good taste for your company in the prospect's mind for when you inevitably run into them again when the deal closes

Just leave it. A sales enablement tool like Salesloft or Outreach will be set up to stop sending emails with any reply so job done.

I respond letting them know that I will update my notes in SFDC so that my SDR will not reach out. I then add a line about our value, similar to@LordTyrion'sย comment and add a product brief or upcoming webinar link if they are interested to learn why similar companies are modernizing with us.

Great response. Esp the link to upcoming webinar or customer case study video. The latter, I've found gets more views.ย

Was it a list though ?

Does it *smell* like a list as far as the prospect is concerned?

Or is this a key prospect you've done your research on?ย

Since I've moved to decision making, if I've responded "take me off your list" it's because I've clicked through to the content / website and have identified there's no fit.

If I say "it's not of interest", that means I respect what you're doing and the effort you're putting in but it's not for us

If you put in a good shift on a cold call I'll tell you outright - either where you've researched our company/industry or were clear in what you *don't* know and wanted to find out on a call

A lot of times we get "Thanks for sending but not interested"ย

One of the more senior guys at the firm has responded "Happy to have sent it along. Out of curiosity, who is this not of interest?"ย

Anyone ever have any luck with the "Why not?"

I do respond, usually with a "I don't have a list, I was working with some other orgs in the area and thought I should reach out to you as well, all the best." And then I do reach out again down the line - preferably to a more receptive prospect.

I usually just leave it, side note this is one of my pet peeves in prospecting.ย  I mean, what is it 1997? You think we're all sitting here working down an excel file?ย  Something about this response just drives me INSANEย

And there's this thing call anti-spam and privacy regulations that require marketing/sales to remove (and time stamp) the person from the list.ย  There are 100+ state bills in the works that are will tighten what is and is not permissible in outbound emails.ย  ย More impact on Marketing than Sales ---- it's gonna get ugly if govt decides to enforce violations.

I work solely inbound so if they ask to be taken off of my "list", I usually just Bad Fit / Do Not Contact and move on to the next lead. I do like @LordTyrion's response. Need to add that to my templates!

I'm not a huge fan of sending gifs in an email. I'm sure that they work some of the time though. I like to send something similar to what Stringer wrote a few comments down. My mindset is stay professional and even if they don't buy now, you may not be at your current job forever. I'd rather not burn a bridge because you just never know

I just did a recent project for the other SDRs at my company and from research, client feedback, and Sales feedback. I found that the best way to handle the โ€œ take me off your list โ€œ objection is respond with positivity and understanding . Say something like this either on the phone or in and email .... โ€œย I absolutely will, and I will even send you an email to confirm. It will have a few links that will give you insight into what we do, so that if you ever find yourself needing resources you can reach me.โ€ย

At the end of the day legally they have a right to always get off an email list or phone list, so you have to honor their request. But timing is everything and sometimes you have to play the long game.ย

If you are sending canned emails to a list... yes.
If you are sending vague emails to random people... stop.
If you are doing your research and identifying potential buyers... no; keep going.
