Do you send a thank you email after an interview?

I talked to a manager recently who told me a surprising amount of people don't send thank you emails after a call. I always thought it was practically mandatory. Personally, I would ding a candidate for not doing it.

Absolutely. Every time. And if they give feedback, make sure you take immediate action (if possible) and follow up showcasing the change and/or a use case of it helping.

I will 1000% ding a candidate for not sending a thank you. It is the bare minimum display of follow up.

Yes, every single time. Treat it like the sales process, recap the need you discovered for the role, add a few bullets of how you fit and why you are excited to join.

JINX! I totally agree. I send a thank you email everytime, similar to what I do when I follow-up with clients (recap our convo and then say I'm excited to continue)

I always MAIL a handwritten thank you note.

This is a great idea. My only concern is that it would take time to get there. And you'd have to ask for their address, since most people are still WFH. Definitely an extra boost though.

I do it just because I know I have to do it. I've also heard of people not doing it which is shocking to me because it's like a mandatory unwritten rule.

Always send a thank you email. And to stand out even more, include something relevant from your conversation (just to show them you were listening).

Yes, especially if it's a sales role.  Shows how you can find emails, personalize them, and do follow up.  This step helped me land my first SaaS sales job and now I look for this when I interview candidates.
