Do You Think Companies Seek Out New Ways To Be Better?

As a sales savage I've been wondering if companies ever really do biz dev/sales for themselves. By that I mean, 100% of the time a company or prospect will say "not interested" or "we're all set". So it got me thinking if that's the usual answer do they seek out new and innovated ways to not just be "OK"? Or are they happy with statuesque? The answer is most likely yes but I'm just talking about loud.

You have me giggling. I think you mean "status quo" not "statuesque", which screams "HR issue". :)

Ahem.

I think your point is solid. When you have a company that is trying to address gaps and make adjustments, it's a good sign. Being proactive about looking for market trends and development, and how sales can help drive the future are good signs that a company is not stuck or satisfied.

good companies who want to remain profitable and relevant do.

The companies who remain stagnant and don't want to change will eventually go the way of the dinosaurs... maybe not today or tomorrow, but eventually someone will do better and be better.

Companies seek out ways in which they can be more profitable. Better or not, I am not quite sure.

The answer is definitely yes, but usually that isn't something that sales will see until the 'MQL' comes in.

I would say its not that they don't want to be better, but they don't see the value

Not sure where you are driving toward....

But a company's job is to make the owner or shareholders money. That's about it. If there are ancillary benefits, great.

Far too many companies don't, but the ones that will be around for a long time do.

Too often 'we're all set' is a reflex and not actually an objection.

I always make a point to inform the buyer that inaction is an action. Choosing to do nothing eliminates them from possibilities. From there I hit them with examples of inaction horror stories like Blockbuster/Netflix or Kodak.

Sounds like your prospecting emails are focused on benefits or upside rather than the negative impact of doing nothing.
