Yep! I've had so many different Sales trainings (SPIN, Challenger, ValueSelling, Solution) and I've been on various negotiation courses it would make sense to have this at University even if only for an elective module. I left Uni with a degree in International Business Studies with no intention of going into sales and then BAM one hit (I did a rotational Grad scheme) and I'm hooked.

I did a similar degree with a very naive perspective on what ‘business’ was, a job in sales was not in the pipeline! You then come to discover it is the life blood of every business

There is a growing trend of colleges and universities offering sales courses, and degrees -- and to be candid I dig it. At minimum any "business" degree should include a course load on sales (strategies, execution, experiential). I think we are finally turning a corner from the age old "sales can't be taught" garbage, and its opening doors for a lot of folks who wouldn't have thought sales was for them years ago. My "retirement job/dream" is to teach sales at the university level actually.

100% Yes - In order to validate a product-market fit one has to sell before even doing any marketing work.

I agree, so much of everyday life is transactional, learning even the basics can go a long way It also helps solidify sales as a future career for more people

We live in a world of capitalism and it's all about sales. Hell, even charitable orgs do sales to get more donations.

Yes, even a broad based course about how to sell oneself would do wonders for job seekers, negotiating requirements with other tranches within your org, people seeking relationships and making new friends.
Understanding the psychology of people allows insight into yourself, in turn you can more readily be accepting/supporting of others. People who know how to sell themselves have an easier time with many things.

I really like the broader perspective on things and it’s true, stoic way of living

Fuck yes. Sales is all about learning on the fly. It would be great if colleges had a co-op style program and that way you can get the experience and the theory at the same time.
