Do you use podcasts as part of your prospecting?

As podcasts have become more and more popular, I've noticed a lot of customers I am targeting and prospecting have come out with their own podcasts, and even specific people I am prospecting have been guests on podcasts or done podcast interviews. I'm curious if anyone is using this as part of their targeted prospecting and if so, what success have you had? Do you reference the podcast and ask questions about it to get their attention?

Awesome! Did he find any consistent strategies on getting those meetings booked? Was there any pattern to the messages he sent after listening to the podcasts?

The thought hasn't even crossed my mind.

Thanks for giving me something new to look for while prospecting! Any way we can strategically break into an account is definitely welcomed 💯

I love the idea, but it's so hard to find the time to invest in a podcast and then bring it up to your prospect. If it is the perfect prospect and you're dying for their business this is a great idea, but it's such a hard thing to scale. That being said I love listening to podcasts in general

True that it's hard to scale. I guess if your prospects are in similar industries or roles you might be able to apply anything you learn from one podcast to another prospect, but if they are completely separate industries it might be harder.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
I do this when target accounts have leadership as guests on podcasts. It's about precision. You don't want to spend hours listening to one unless you find it legit interesting and listen while working out/commuting/whatever.

My recommendations:

-Can you get the transcript and skim it?
-Or can you find one nugget quickly that you can latch onto for prospecting purposes?
-Sometimes the description will say "Company X is looking to invest in logistics." That alone can save you a lot of time.

I never thought of looking at the transcript, I think that could be a time saver for those who can't listen to the full thing.

I mean, this seems like a no-brainer if I ever saw one.  It's like asking if you use Google alerts to get insights on your prospects and use those insights to target key stakeholders... am I wrong?

Based on the previous comments here I don't think it's as common as Google Alerts, but does seem like a good idea. Of course the time investment is considerably more than just reading some news alerts, since you likely have to listen to multiple 20+ minute episodes of podcast.

Go for it! I would actually also recommend @CaneWolf 's suggestion above about getting the transcript and skimming that to save time

SDR team I was on previously would use podcasts as part of our prospecting, especially since we were prospecting into large enterprise companies and it can land well with the right message.
