I would rather work until midnight on Friday than open slack or my laptop on the weekend. At the beginning of WFH, I was putting in 80-90 hours a week. I've managed to learn how to compartmentalize my work week into 50 hours max.

As soon as the white claws are opened I won't be opening my laptop until 7am on Monday.

If I open slack and catch my reps working on the weekend I call them out on it as well since we must make intentional carve-outs for personal time.

I've transitioned from 2-5 hours on the weekend pre-covid to heck no or just a little and I mean just a wee little (mainly prep for Monday if urgent).

I've found that I need to be very intentional about carving out personal time now that everything is WFH. Has anyone else found this?

P.S I've actually never felt better, more relaxed, less stressed and guess what, mamma is still slinging deals and hitting quota. So the world didn't end!

Yes. I find I need to be super intentional about personal time, too.

I'm somewhere between hell no and Sunday night prep. Sometimes I feel the Sunday scaries and freeze, other times I feel like getting a head start. I'll do this by getting my laptop up, displaying notebooks, pens, and my lamp. I find if I put it all away Friday night it helps me to unplug.

I think it's hard not to check my email on weekends, but I won't take client calls on the weekend. I might take an internal meeting if necessary.

Unless I have something I wasn’t able to get done during the week that’s due early the following week, then no.

I'm just about to start as I type this comment.
During spring/summer, I usually do it after Sunday dinner to prep for the upcoming week.

As all the trauma reps know you're on call every weekend even if you don't end up going in

Nope. My weekends are mine. If I had to work on the weekend to close a deal, sure. That hasn't come up yet though.

I only work on weekends under these circumstances:

- 1) to the extent that it helps my Mondays,
- 2) if it's chill work I can do over a beer.

Anything that requires full attention, emotional bandwidth, or a significant chunk of time, I leave till Monday.

Since this whole pandemic hit and I've been working from home, my industry was really flipped upside down and it was all hands on deck to stop the hemorrhaging. While things are (thankfully) better now, I still find myself working 10 hours+ per day M-F consistently, and on the weekends I do try to do a bunch catch-up and prep works so I don't feel behind.

Not going to lie i don't like it...I wish to get to a point where I don't FEEL like i HAVE to put in work on the weekends just to keep my head above water - but I always feel there's more that I can and have to do (plus our company has been pretty cheap during the pandemic - so since they're not hiring for support roles there's definitely less assistance for sales). It blows but I tell myself "suffer now and it'll pay off later".

Anyone else feel similarly and have any tips?

Sincerely,

sales dude just tryna figure out life in general
