the use-case is totally diff. your sources of making connects is diff. how they engage with you is diff (maybe on LI, twitter, insta, etc).

well.....if you have 5K connections that you are trying to engage with I would say you are doing it wrong.
you should tier out those contacts and only focus on the "A" contact.

Right. Let's say I want to do it for my own professional growth and not for selling or creating awareness for a company
i would say 5K people is too many people to try and have personal conversations with at one time.
at this point i believe its not about tracking each individual person, but the sentiment from your audience as a whole.
you will get signals (feedback, comments, interactions on content) that you are doing the right thing. But you dont need to have personal connections with each one.
there should only be a few ppl that you do that with.
