Does anyone else feel like they’re working with idiots?

Several big projects are consistently being held up because we have to proverbially walk someone through on how to open a goddamn PDF. HOW ARE THESE PEOPLE IN CHARGE

To be fair, it’s multiple depts but in this particular case, I was asked if we had something obvious that we’ve talked about 20 times for their project and I’m like “You own this, how do you not know this?!”

It only gets worse over time, when "leaders" ego's are so gigantic that they have zero self awareness to their MASSIVE blind spots.  To which everyone in the company has to make up for. PAINFUL.

Sounds about right. I had someone on my team today (who has been with our company for 4 years) ask how to draft a basic PO without any changes or customization. A task I know they have done 100 times before.

In all seriousness, one of my last bosses also struggled with opening PDF's... or not offending clients.

He was ex-Gartner, clearly they hire the best of the best.

I made the mistake of being on a Teams call yesterday, aggravated AF, when I said, "Do you ever feel like this job makes you dumber?"

I wasn't wrong, but shouldn't have lost my cool like that.

I feel that I am managing my manager nearly daily. It never goes away, no matter how "competent" your leadership team is.

Bruh. I sent a link to a Teams video meeting in an Outlook invitation. Most didn’t show up and created their own meeting. It took 20 minutes to get everyone into the meeting. I said where’s everyone at? I sent the link to the meeting in the invite. People were like I don’t see it. I said did you open the invitation? Oh…yeah, there it is.

I wouldn’t have minded but this was 3 weeks in a row! On the 3rd week I had had enough and asked to see the invite because no way I didn’t put the link in, which they all claimed I hadn’t. Once I showed them how to access the invite, that’s when I realized nobody knew how to use Outlook (or any piece of tech for that matter outside of Teams). That’s kind of a big piece of tech to not know how to use. I tried training people but to no avail. I actually got fired from this place due to a lack of cultural fit. If by taking my role seriously when others clearly didn’t, then yeah, not a fit. Based on this experience, I think they fired the wrong person.

I every day question myself to why certain people still get paid to do their job - it really grinds me when in meetings they suggest how to do things...well if it worked you wouldn't be constantly moaning about not bringing anything in.

THIS WAS MY LIFE TODAY.

My new sales manager held his second team meeting with the highest performing team in the company for the past 4 months, hate to toot our horn but facts are facts, and he dared to say we are freestyling too much in our calls and need a script to structure it...

I felt I was talking to a team leader of the customer service department in a call center.

I can't get over it sorry if I'm projecting a "little" but I had to stand our ground today and I'm still a little fired up.

Freestyling...SMH
