Does BANT work?

I’ve seen/heard BANT throughout my career and although it would be great to have all that info in a deal cycle obviously I have never seen it work successfully.


Does it work for you and if so why?

In my personal opinion, BANT will always be important in sales qualification because those four aspects are fundamental to any sale, but there isn't enough in BANT to help the salesperson and the prospect align on the same goal. 

The issue is that BANT is qualifying the prospect to you, which does nothing to qualify you (your product) to your prospect. What do they get out of knowing their own budget or timeline? Nothing. Those are things for you. 

I strictly use a methodology called Visualize, and it has really helped me and my team evolve as a sales org. Focused purely on helping the rep and the prospect align on motivation to get them fighting for the same thing

You can also other things like MEDICC, or MEDPICC. Or you don't have to stick to a methodology at all. Just have to focus on how and the prospect can align and work towards a goal, which I don't think BANT does IMO

I think BANT is important but the most important part is the need. What happens if they do not buy what you’re selling? Use that to drive urgency on the budget and timeline. Additionally we add C(competition) to it with next steps.

I HATE when people make it so obvious that they are using BANT. I think all of the information in BANT is necessary to obtain, but come on people, let's make it conversational.
