Does it feel like a cult

I feel that it's safe to guess that most people if not all of us are on LinkedIn a lot.

Am I the only one who feels like the "sales community" there seems like a cult these days.

It's 99% salespeople selling stuff to salespeople.

No one sells to technical buyers.

Everyone who is actively talking about sales is exclusively focused on either selling their "coaching" or telling people how to sell to sales...or both.

LinkedIn is where recruiters reach out and offer you more than you’re worth to do work you’ve never done before. That what makes it’s so wonderful.

I only get recruiters offering me jobs i did 20 years ago for half of what I made then.

Hah, I do get plenty of the other garbage, but one must be discerning.

I’ve been recruited 2x now and on both occasions landed work I’d never done before, with significant upside.

The first time it got me into SaaS/Technology which is what I really needed. Upside on pay was marginal, approx 30% on OTE

But my most recent move was into F1000 sales which was a major departure from where I previously was. 100%+ up on OTE and about 60% on base, so not bad all in all. And the actual job is literally easier. It’s honestly stupid easy. Tech sales, esp large enterprise has been majorly over-hyped.

I’m convinced that if you If you can persuade mom and pop to part with a few $100 a month of their own hard earned cash, it’s easy af to persuade the C-suite to spend a few $M of shareholder profits.

exactly why I don't follow other sales people on LI. I follow coworkers old/current, people in my personal network, and clients be it one's I'm trying to sell to or one's I've sold to in the past. This helps keep my feed focused on what's important - making me money.
