Apparently my coffee hadn't kicked in and I gave you a one-word answer. Apologies.ย

I have to have a base. I need to know there's something to fall back on when deals fall through or get pushed to the next month.ย

Plus I paid Ole Miss a shit ton of money to not have a base salary ๐Ÿ˜

I wouldn't. There are opportunities out there with base salaries that you should take advantage of if you can. Then you get commission on top. Commission only pay is a true grind, and while people do it, I don't think it's the most comfortable way to get by.ย

People take commission based gigs, but do they prefer that? I wouldnโ€™t think so. We have a commission-only rep selling for us, but he says it works for him because heโ€™s only doing this part-time and heโ€™s doing it for a few other companies. I do however see that context switches take a lot outta you if youโ€™re playing this setting.

yeah, no chance. especially in the startup world I'm living... you're sorta at the mercy of whatever experiments marketing, product, etc. wants to conduct and those experiments aren't usually home runs hahaย ย

That's a negative ghost rider. Sure we are in sales for the commission, but if that is the sole source... nah, need something for base.ย

Base is simply a commission check spread out over 12 months.ย  Good for the boss, bad for the sales pro.

Only straight commission.ย  It is simply the only way you will come close to getting paid close to what you are actually worth without owning the company.ย  REMEMBER: you are commission whether that is how your are paid or not!ย  If you take a base, that is simply a commission payment spread out over 12 months.

Hmmmm, I'm all about getting paid, if the split is 50/50 its less risk than 100% commission. If I can get money now and money later, I'm happier than money later

In financial services thereโ€™s probably a more brightly defined line here. If your financial advisor gets paid a base itโ€™s because he sucks and works at Edward Jones.ย

If your advisor gets paid when you succeed, and is stacking cash, he does not suck.ย

I am in 100% comission setting appointments - sometimes you make a killing and sometimes you lose... with the data I have so far, im making about 1/3 less than I was on a base. But that is 100% my bad, its on me
I know I could get so much more results but for some reason, it gets harder to push through the shit but im working on it- revenue has increased by almost 40% in the past 3 months, I am truly confident I can 3x the base salary previously... just need to super glue my bare sack to the chair and do the work

i made 1 week base in the first 2 days of this week, slowed down on the gas on Wednesday, stepped back on it today and tomorrow going full throttle... I should be going full throttle everyday, we all should- but damn it gets hard! especially on comish only xD
