With vaccines on the rise and some decline in the new outbreaks of the Rona, does the vaccine actually change your stance and protective measures?


The virus is still here, the vaccine helps you not get nearly as sick if contracted but does not fully stop the spread.


Anti vaxxers and the others that never believed it to be real are still out there.

No, I don't think the vaccine is going to change much. If you still have to wear a mask, socially distance, can't have large events, and can even still contract/transmit the virus, what exactly does it accomplish in terms of getting things back to normal?

I believe we need to learn to live with the virus, because it isn't going anywhere for a while. Protect the most vulnerable, such as the very ill/seniors, and let the rest of the population get back to normal. Low risk individuals can decide what activities are appropriate for them.

At this point, I strongly believe that lockdowns are causing too many issues with mental health/addictions/domestic abuse/people's financial well being/the economy to continue to justify them, vaccinated population or not.

Well, good question. Short answer is it wont be. It is the new flu. I see it staying around but we can learn how to live with it rather than full lockdown hide from it. Vaccines are a start, but we still have a hefty % of people that dont believe in it still.ย

plenty of people who don't and have never believed in the flu shot and we don't shut down every year because of that.ย  Also, how do we measure positive effect of the vax?ย  Does the recovery rate go from 99.7% to 99.8%?

I don't necessarily disagree with you, and I'm definitely getting the vax when my number is called, but I don't agree with this whole idea of a "new normal".ย  This thing just point blank shouldn't have an effect on the way we live our lives.

With a wife in healthcare they're tracking ventilator usage, severe symptoms and deaths. Which are all dramatically decreasing as more and more get vaccinated. I think the end is when people aren't dying or suffering. It's the new flu for sure. But the vaccines minimize the risk of severe illness and death, which I hear sucks by the way

I hear you and thanks to your essential wife from my family to yours. I have had a few pass, and several hospitalized. My neighbor is in healthcare too and we got the daily ventilator count and were more in the know in the beginning than most, also more scared than most. We will see positives with vaccines for sure.ย

Yeah, we probably move further towards normal after getting Covid doesnโ€™t result in a panic attack and we can treat it more like the flu or the cold.

Honestly though - I don't think people will get the vaccine unless the CDC says we can start doing shit again. What's the point of the vaccine if I still can't go to Aftershock in Sacramento ya know? People need to get vaccinated so we can all move on.

No doubt, i have gotten it as i have young kids and they cant have it, so im attempting to give a layer of protection but also keeping some strict protocols. No burning man, no friends over either lol

Fully vax'ed here as well. I have an immunodeficiency issue so no way in hell was going to mess with the VID. But now that I'm vaccinated I don't feel as nervous and I think once 75-80% of people get vaccinated we should be allowed to start partying again.
