Question
Post

Double vaxxed and waxed, baby.

I’m updating my resume and I got my 2nd covid vaccine shot yesterday.

I was wondering what people think about listing ‘fully vaccinated’ within my resume, point form, under my ‘skills and assets’ section.

Is it inappropriate to include your vaccine status in your resume?

Depends on what part of the country you are applying for jobs… unfortunately there are two very polarized camps when it comes to vaccines.

Personally, I would leave it off to avoid conflict.

Fair comment.

Based on where I live, I think this would generally be seen as a positive but point taken.

It's never appropriate to include personal medical information on a resume.

Yeah, I suppose you have a point here.

I wouldn’t include it, but mention it at an interview if you think it would sit well with the interview. Like Meech said, there are two very strong points of view to this

I would think it’s an asset, as you can now do all the things, meet all the people and travel to all the places. I definitely brought it up when I was interviewing.

Personally, I can’t believe everyone isn’t yet. Yes I know that some people will disagree with that and I don’t care.

I would totally discuss it. I just wouldn't put it on my resume.

I totally agree with this and was waiting for this comment. Seems to be an unpopular opinion so far…

Which is mind boggling to me.

I haven't been including it on mine, but I will mention that I am willing to meet in person and I am fully vaccinated and ready to return to the office if convenient for them.

I got it in the morning yesterday and felt like absolute garbage late in the evening. Fever, aches, sweats… It was not pleasant but feeling much better now.

Thanks for asking

I felt like crap for a few days after as well. I figured it was better than the alternative 🤷‍♀️

Similar to putting democrat or republican on your CV.  Not sure it's relevant.

Yeah, it’s a sad state of affairs that vaccines are politicized regardless of which side of the fence you’re on but these are the times we live in…

Hmm this is an interesting question Cadence.

I voted no opinion, but personally I would leave it off your resume. Keep the paper strictly business, but have the conversation if it's brought up.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
My employer won't let anybody in ANY office or event without being vaccinated so I would drop it in conversation.

I don't feel like this in anyway is relevant nor do I think it should be advertised on a resume... what if the hiring manager is an anti-vaxxer?  Best to leave it off, it's nobody's fucking business what your vaccine status is.

Strong words @TheRealPezDog I sense some reluctance about the vaccine in general based on skimming a recent post of yours…

I’ll just say this, I don’t think its crazy to be apprehensive and have questions about the vaccine. I had a similar view point for a while and thought I might forgo taking it… But, from my limited understanding, if you’re strictly playing the odds, the risks seem to be far less with taking the vaccine than just chancing it and that’s the rationale that encouraged me to do it 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m not a doctor so I’m not trying to convince anyone of anything.

Are employers asking at this point? I know that you need to show that you have two to play contact sports but that's understandable

I have no idea but I imagine this will be more and more of a requirement with a lot of the entities we interact with day-to-day.

Unless you’re planning on swapping spit and other bodily fluids with your hiring manager (if you are, no judgement) I don’t think it’s relevant.

I think it's fair to bring it up in an interview if someone asks about vaccine status, however no need to put in on the resume IMO.

I wouldn't as if the impact is positive it's likely still minimal, whereas if the impact is negative it could ultimately be to your demise.

I think it'll depend on industry and what job you're applying to. I would say most of the automated processes of going through resumes won't check for it, but it'll be a good thing to bring up with the hiring manager/HR once you get to the interview stage.

So we are SLOWLY reopening offices in NYC. I do offer that I can meet in person if they would like to and not to worry, I'm fully vaccinated and ready to be in the office if they prefer that.

I wouldn't include it on my resume to be honest though.

Fully vacinated isnt a skill. So don’t list it under skills. Maybe put it in the area for extra Curricular type stuff if you think they would care.

Yeah ain't no need for that... but I would 100% ensure they know you're waxed (just keep those deets verbal).

If a company really cares they will list that being vaccinated is required to work in the office however, they will have to allow you to work remotely if you chose to not get the vaccine. It is a personal choice that should not influence wether you get a job or not.

I wouldn't put it on the resume, but I would definitely bring it up in the interview, where appropriate. I would also ask about their COVID policies, it will tell you a lot about the org.
