I think you need to have the risk of downvotes overide the benefit of spamming or posting something without a genuine intention to contribute or spark discussion.

If you limit the ability to downvote a post at a max of -3 you’re still netting +2 for your post.

I’d actually like to see more downvoting to keep things a little tighter and everyone honest but nothing crazy.

Also, one other thing worth pointing out is nothing is stopping you from deleting your post if you do it on a laptop/desktop [delete function doesn’t look like it’s available on mobile].

If you start to see your post trending downwards, cut your losses and delete your post if you’re so concerned about being downvoted into oblivion.

OR, if you’re that determined to get your message out there, that’s fine, but there’s a cost to it.

True, as a strategy. Think about it though, why to have this option? I petition for the down vote bottoms at cost. If you want to be an ass - it should cost you.

I respectfully disagree. Making it zero sum isn’t punitive, which it needs to be in order to effectively discourage useless posts, etc.

It's ok, seems that your opinion is a majority here anyway. What can I do 😳

🤷🏻‍♂️ I don’t think you need to be too concerned. Just use common sense and downvotes will be a rare occurrence.

That’s an interesting take. An accepted way is to deduct a certain quantity of commish for every downvote so folks don’t go crazy downvoting shit.

having said that, I haven’t seen a single undeserving  comment or post that has a negative vote. Overall downvotes seem to be few today too

Down votes not needed. I think we get so much $hit from so many directions, that we truly don't need one more source to put us down. Every down vote hurt me

I don't think downvotes should be limited but I agree they are misused. I invite people to disagree with me because that's one way to broaden your thinking.

The problem with downvoting as a way of disagreeing is that it discourages honest discourse.

It drives bad behavior. People can be a-holls.
Double negative means that you agreed with me 😜

Haha damn, I don't know if I should blame autocorrect, my toddler climbing on me, or my own stupidity for that one. But that's what my friend the "edit" button is for

Also I would say A holes and sales tend to go hand in hand. He'll, I caught myself being a petty A hole in the comments of one of my own threads not more than an hour ago. Other guy got in a few ringers and I admittedly had no way of rebutting because I was in the wrong. I just try to admit that fact when I recognize it. I'm human

By no means is everyone in sales an A hole but it's a profession that attracts them. Think Wolf of Wall Street

I think if we want to keep this space positive we need the downvotes, it keeps everyone in check, eliminates spam, and encourages people to post with intention and not just garbage in order to earn commish.
negative posts get downvotes, positive contributions get upvotes - feels fair to me.

Nah- downvotes are a way to keep the discussion in check in the first place. It also keeps things from turning toxic.

As someone who has seen plenty of them, downvotes are healthy. But it is important people aren’t too scared to say fringe things or ideas or comments of downvotes... but they should also be a system of checks and balances. So after arguing for both sides, I’m leaving this to smarter people than me.
