Not looking to be a big whiner or anything but I logged in earlier to find a sudden 86 downvotes putting my current commission tally for the week at -15. I noticed a variety of my post history has gone down by -1 and I expect this extends to a batch of my comments as well... This strikes me as odd considering I haven’t made any substantial recent posts or anything...
Looking for some more context on this @sahil @GeneralCorp please.
I feel like we need to set downvote thresholds so you can’t downvote a particular user more than 10 times or X number of times per day to prevent vengeful bad actors to tank your commission tally.
This way, there is no limit on the downvotes someone can accrue for a bad faith post... But you can’t target their entire post/comment history instantaneously.
- New user joins and makes a repeat post
- New user gets downvoted and gets negative comments
- New user targets all the posts and comment history of the commenters and downvotes it all out of spite.
Also, it would prevent toxic behavior for those competing in the leaderboards. I have no concrete proof to back this up, but during the first leaderboard, @fuzzy and I were both downvoting the shit out of eachother as we were fighting it out for the 2nd spot.
Just for the record @fuzzy I have since removed the large majority of downvotes that were issued during this period and I’m admitting my own toxic behaviour in this regard in an effort to prevent any repeat occurrences.
I can’t speak for anyone else but this is very demoralizing from a content generation perspective.
