Emoji’s in your LinkedIn Headline are for douchebags

I love sales and generally love sales people. They are creative, interesting, and authentic.

But I’m noticing a trend, primarily among sales enablement companies (*cough*gong*cough*), where their people constantly piggy back off each other’s comments with a bunch of emojis with a 🦄 in their headline and every post reads like it was written by the same turd in marketing.

I’m actively muting actual friends of mine who are a part of this garbage. Am I wrong that this shit is some inauthentic crap that makes sales people look bad?

Let’s settle this with the poll.

Lots to take in ere with this post here.  First off, on the emoji's - I'm actually laughing right now, the following emoji's especially drive me insane.  1) Unicorns 2) Rocket Ships 3) "Muscle Arms". Although I have connected with a few leaders who've told me they put the Emoji in their name on linkedin so they can easily identify who's using spammy linkedin automation software for inmails.  Nothing like getting an inmail that says "Hey 🍕 John".....

Secondly, its sounds like your finally noticing what the cool startup kids call "engagement pods" on LI.   Key "influencers" at some specific companies who work in the same space but don't compete have secret society type handshakes to inorganically "boost up" each others posts to drive more overall "engagement".   Its pretty easy to spot them once you know they are there. Constant tagging of each other in posts, everyone saying the same garbage in a different way.   Welcome to linkedin! 😂

LOL. The LI engagement pods are garbage. I once saw a dude who was shitting on engagement pods while you knew he was part of one when you read the comments on his post.

Bruh, the engagement pod shit is like the business version of a circle jerk at a the delta chi house during pledge week. Like, we all see what you're doing - and nobody on the outside is going to eat that cookie.

I just spit my coffee across the room 🤣

Obviously I'm for use of an emoji or two when responding to threads, but I wouldn't be caught dead with an emoji in my headline. I can't take folks seriously that do.

You're 100% right. Leave the emoji's for the beta's in marketing.

I voted before I read, and well yeah, sounds like a bunch of doubaggery to me. I have an emoji on my headline for my profile but its a satelite dish, you know communications, i'm corny that way. hahahaha

Emoji's do not work for headlines....to me it is the quickest way for me to ignore whatever is involved with that!

However, I do feel emoji's are perfect for texting to convey emotion and tone with your words.

It is well used to avoid zoominfo or general prospecting tags - but also yes you’re a douche if you do this
