End of Quarter finish line

"buyers are liars" right?

This damn deal should have come in yesterday 6/29 after being approved as a vendor with their PO in my hand. All of that has happened, but now I find out my champion lied to me about her ability to sign the agreement, and now it has to be submitted for approval for signature.

I'm obviously not happy with this, so how to I say " Um, ma'am, does this mean you lied to me in the beginning? we should have done this a long time ago? respectfully, what the fuck?" something like that?

**I am obviously not going to call them a liar**

any sense of direction would help

I would avoid insinuating that they are a liar if you want that deal to come in. How about something like "Perhaps we did not discuss the approval process earlier in the discussions, but could you fill me in on the process from here. Do you think we'll get the approval today by close of business?"

This is just a lesson learned. All my champions who say they can sign I assume they canโ€™t. If they say they can sign. I usually repeat back what they said and ask if I heard them right. Then assume they have no idea what they are talking about, and really the CFO or procurement asshole will sign. Just reinforce deadlines and savings. Howeverโ€ฆif this spills over to next week. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT give them the incentive price. Bump it up a bit so they know you were not bullshitting. It takes some balls but worth it in the end. Especially if you can grow the business or on the hook for renewing it.

Iย would take the blame, saying something like I'm sorry I assumed you had this cleared already, what would be the best case of action to proceed to get the approval?ย

If you tell them they are a liar the relationship is done.ย
