Enterprise AEs, how did you break into the Enterprise space?

Howdy warriors. I recently interviewed for an enterprise roll but was told I didn't have the experience with deal size they were looking for. (Average of 1.5 M) When I was asked what the average deal size I closed with my previous employer I said 100k monthly value so 1.2M annual.

Those of you in Enterprise roles, what is something I need to focus on if that is where I want to make my next leap? How did you make the transition into enterprise? Is it mostly luck and experience or is there something I need to focus on specifically?

Also if ya'll know of any companies looking to hire and Enterprise AE, let me know.

Yeah seems like my best shot is going to be finding a company where I can eventually be promoted to Ent

Was in mid market and go another company to take a chance on me since I wasn’t liking my trajectory. Took quite a few “no’s” due to experience before I got there, so I’d just recommend keeping after it.

I know a couple of people who have turned down enterprise roles and stayed mid-market because they made more by hitting their quotas. Enterprise has a higher base but a higher quota to hit in order to hit an accelerator so sometimes it may not even be worth pursuing it.

Never really considered that to be honest. You've now given me something to think about. Thank you

1.( Make sure you have a well documented brag book with sales success. Can emphasis this enough.

2). Best interview of your life.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
Promoted into the role. I had about 4.5 years of experience as an IC with a pretty good track record across a few companies.

I kind of had the feeling that most are promoted to the roll, as is the case with SDR to AE most often.

Do you know another Enterprise rep that can refer you?

I don't. I am close with plenty of folks that "rank higher" than enterprise rep but nobody that actually is one.
