EOQ discounting

how do people feel about offering the EOQ discounts to everyone? I feel like it is a last ditch play to get easy wins without proving business value which can make it harder to sell more licenses down the road. I have a book of accounts selling new business and expansion. thoughts?

Not a big fan of it.. It cheapens everything and there's no valid reason for it aside from hitting your own numbers

Yep not a huge fan either. Ultimately cheapens the product and turns them much more likely into bad clients who weren't bought in from the beginning. If you've sold people at full price in the past, then stay the course broski.

We don't do discounts. However, it can be harmful long term if that is the relationship you are looking to create, especially for those deals/clients that are looking to expand down the road. They will forever expect the same discount/price and not give a damn about inflation.

I agree! This is my first EOQ at this company and it is a normal thing here. I donโ€™t think Iโ€™m a fan of it!

PLEASE DONT DO THIS.

this is the WORST sales tactic out there.

i see it over and over and over again.

lowering the price does NOT create urgency.

If you want to get a deal done fast you have to make sure you really understand what the prospect has to do to get it done and know there is something to change.

many times (as deals get bigger) there isnt much that can be done.

What you can do, is identify the trigger event. and align with that.

What is the event that will happen or could happen that would make your product REALLY important.

Find that. dont do a fake discount.

I don't do it. They don't own me.

It cheapens your process, your product, and your salesmanship. The more you do it the more people are going to realize that they can get it cheaper near the end of each quarter and just wait for that discount.

If you offer EOQ discount, it will never push someone to move quicker. It only shows desperation. They will hold you to the discount after EOQ.

On the reverse, if a customer comes to you and says hey, I know itโ€™s your EOQ and your price is a bit out of reach. Can you get me EOQ pricing if I commit to x date. Then you can decide what to do and have the ability to push back if they donโ€™t hold their side of the deal.
