Many years ago I was a copier salesman for a large independent VAR. End of month is BRUTAL if you don't hit your number; bitch duty, public shaming, endless "corrective" discussions, the works. Well, it was the last day of the month to book a deal and I was $2,300 from hitting quota ($45k) and I was taking my last ditch swings at the lowest of my prospects. 

So I drove out an hour and 15 to meet this business owner who I had met with once previously to put copiers and phones in 5 of his Tire Shop locations. I told him we have "XYZ Promotion" going on if he can sign TODAY. The guy is a steel trap, zero emotion, no facial expression and could not give two shits about upgrading his copiers and phones 😩.

So I did what any reasonable salesperson in the same position would do and I shot my shot. Told him I would buy a brand new set of tires from him if he would sign the contract TODAY. (Keep in mind my car was 8 months old at the time and was in no need of a tire change.) So after I gave him my pitch to swap business he just sat there for a few minutes, no words, no expression, just made me sit in my own desperate despair..... after a few minutes he looked at me and said "well, I don't know, I have to ask my wife" .... FUUUUUCK, the "wife" objection....and just as soon as he said that his wife yells from the back office "If you don't sign that paper I will, that young man doesn't need new tires!!!!" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

We all had a good laugh about it and he signed, I made quota and was a hero. At least for another 72 hours until next month and new quota began. So remember, no matter how shitty the opp, there is always hope. But that hope comes at a price 😩😂😩😂😩😂
