Equity and vesting, what's your expected payout after fully vesting?

Hi team, just wanted to know if we can make a thread discussing equity and expected payout when you fully vest (or what you hope for).

Industry: DevOps/Software development lifecycle management

Role: SDR

Equity: 2000 shares, 4 year vesting period, 1 year cliff

Time in role: 1 year 2 months (27%) vested

Expected payout/hoping for: At todays price (we ipo'd last year) I have around 31900 USD in shares unexercised, hoping for a price of 200-300USD per share by end of 2024

Let me know if this isn't allowed can take it down.

I can only answer from a US perspective, and it appears you're based in New Zealand.ย

It all depends on taxes.

This article is helpful for a US perspective:ย  https://carta.com/blog/equity-101-exercising-and-taxes/

Not sure what is applicable in NZ. Sorry!

Regardless, congrats on your success!

My current company is pre IPO (Series B, just raised $100M at a $1B valuation) so this is all just fake money at this point but for the sake of conversation.

Industry: Entertainment Payroll Software
Role: Director of Sales
Equity: 35,000 shares 4 year vesting period, 1 year cliff
Time in role: 5 months (0%) vested

Expected payout/what I am hoping for: I joined after our series A round and the valuation of our. company has 10x since I joined. My strike price is $.01 and my current unvested shares are worth ~$2M. The goal is to 10x the company by the time we IPO in the next couple years. Who knows if that will happen, but if it does itll be a nice payout.ย

In the US 4 years is pretty standard

4 years is very normal, generally you vest either 8.25% per quarter or some small amount each month and by 4 years the grant will be fully vested.ย
