Ethics in Government Bidding

So, I know a lot of us have gone through this situation before. A government entity contacts you and says “we need to spend no more than $xxx, xxx on product Y)”

well, the product costs way less than what they have allocated for it.

obviously, you want to make money but selling them that product at that price would be practically robbing them.

when faced with these situations, I always put myself in the position of a taxpayer as well.

any feedback/criticism/ piggybacking is welcome

true  dat @BigCheese especially in my state. I'm not saying give them a discount because the government is benevolent and always has my best interest in mind. I'm just saying that not ripping them off is often times better in the long run when they *finally* realize they're actually paying fair market prices.
Now, I have run across certain instances (only with federal gov) where they say "we have to spend this much money or it goes away"- in those cases, I usually take advantage of the situation and earn some of my tax dollars back. lol.

I actually deleted my comment as there are government entities that aren't predatory like that, and also, I would've felt bad if it turned out to be like a public school system lol. But yeah I'm with you in general. Fair takes.

lots of the entities I sell to are municipalities. Lots of times they have to get money in super complicated ways that just don't make sense. Big gov sucks.

If it’s the DEA or especially the ATF I’m going HAM and trying to get what I can.

Uh 2 things when selling to the gov 1. No discounts because I don’t get one at tax time and 2. They print the money so don’t feel bad about any of it. Go get that cheddar sonnnnnnn

We’re in sales if they want to pay that much for it, sell them for that much.

it’s called value based pricing. If it has that much value for them, perfect!

always capture as much value as possible, from the value your product adds.
