lol! Poor England gets shit on all the time. I'm roughly a third English (I think my DNA results said about 37% and add in all the other UK countries that's 48%) so it's hard to not root for them (2% of me is Irish so 2% of me hates them!)

Huge soccer fan but these group play games have been so boring.ย It seems like every team is just packing the box on defense and there is no open play.ย I've never seen so many blocked shots/crosses in my life and its starting to get reaaaal boring
International football is almost always like this in the group stages (at least for European teams in big tournaments, aka Euros / World Cup)
Yeah I'm starting to only watch the bigger matches for that reason. But Germany France yesterday was a let down.

I thought it was a little slow to be honest. I was hoping for at least one honest (not own) goal. But France had some really good runs and Germany had some excellent chances. Shame no (real) goals though.
Fair enough - I enjoyed the pressure and chances created, and two top-quality sides with a history.

I think it may have been one of the best games of the tournament. Although the NL's first game was awesome.

They've got a good team and they've got a fairly light group, I think they should make it to the round of 8 fairly easily.

Funny you should say that - as a Brit, when I come over to NYC for work, sports bars are usually pretty full during PL games, and I have had Americans want to talk to me about "soccer" if I'm wearing a "jersey" - but of course I get that those people are a niche group within America lol

I'm a big fan of CR7 from his Manchester United days but I love the NL. And of course how do you not pull for Denmark a little bit after Eriksen.
CR7's greatness is hard not to marvel at. He's the Lewis Hamilton of football--you might not think of him as your favorite footballer, but you can't deny how good he really is.
And he's just pure class (loved the Coca Cola thing). I'm a basic American so my favorite footballer is Pulisic.
If you like football it can be fun to watch tournaments like this just to enjoy quality players rather than support one country outright if you aren't already from there / have some kind of personal tie.ย

Yeah Iโve mostly just been enjoying it. Iโm following the countries from my heritage which is a lot lol. England France Wales Scotland Italy Germany Czechia Croatia Slovakia Poland and Iโm sure Iโm leaving out one or two, itโs nuts. Itโs just easier when the States play ๐

Oh I'm 100% with you. I adore Hansi, as I'm a diehard Bayern fan. Tough to see him go, but glad he got that gig and looking forward to Nagelsmann.
I did Ancestry.com out of pure boredom last year and found out that Lewandowski is like my fourth or fifth cousin (something random like that). My great grandparents owned a pub in Salford not too far from Old Trafford before they came over to the States. So I'm pretty connected to United and Bayern.

It was the family tree one so I was able to trace some lines back to the 1300s (French and English for obvious reason, we apparently came from nobility way back when). Lewa was a surprise honestly.

Looking for good football from teams, but they are so boring, Can't enjoy with the 90% of games. One game was pretty cool was Netherlands vs Ukraine and of course France is so overpowered!
