Ever choose to not take a lunch break so as not to lose momentum?

I'm constantly skipping lunch because I find that it takes me a while to get back into my prospecting groove if I do. I still eat something, but I do it at my desk, and it's typically something small.

Ya'll have some kind of post-lunch break routine that gets you fired up and back in the groove or am I better off just taking a post-lunch nap?

I'm aware that skipping my break isn't a great long-term strategy.

The kicker is you actually will lose momentum if you don't take care of yourself. Shit catches up faster than you think.

yep! been there, done that. not good!

in financial services, I would skip lunch all the time. Sometimes i would even realize that I hadnt eaten all day. then when I would eat I would actually be in pain. not fun.

You DEFINITELY need to put your health and wellness first. Plus, people can't concentrate properly beyond about 90 minutes of sustained work - you hit a wall and get diminishing return.

Having a dog is great for making sure I always take a proper lunch and get some fresh air.

Heard it on Jay Shetty's podcast, and he tends to do proper research and use legitimate sources. I think this was in a psychology publication.

Plus it makes sense to me..

Oh definitelly makes sense. This just sounds like something that I would share quite a bit in the future so I want to be able to refer to some kind of study or something rather than "jefe told me in the war room"

Hey man, that jefe guy knows a thing or two!

Totally get it though - I'm the same way. It was the Apr. 22 episode of On Purpose about removing distractions and improving focus

Way too often.

But I try to go for an afternoon walk around my home (~1mile) to get a mental break from things every day.

Youโ€™re an adult. You can plan your day and take lunch at any point! Take care of yourself, take 15 minutes a few times a day to eat or walk or whatever. Self care pays off more than your โ€œstaying in the flowโ€

I agree totally. The funny thing is if I was discouraged from taking breaks from leadership I would probably do it more to show that very thing. The problem is that I don't because I struggle getting back into my grove after the break is over.

I always take a 1 hour lunch break everyday. Unless something massive comes up or a customer call needs to happen BUT. i protect that time.

I work from home so I have lunch with the fam everyday,
Its been awesome. But it does require that I have a plan for exactly what i need to have happen when i come back to work.

if I dont, my ADHD takes over and ill end watching youtube videos about how to fertilize my lawn or something ๐Ÿ˜‚

Are you spying on me or something??? Literally my exact problem haha. I enjoy spending time eating lunch with my fam but that ADHD gets me good when I get back to my desk.

haha YEP! i try my best to have a scheduled task every day at the start of the day or right after lunch. a meeting preferably but if I dont have a meeting then I need to block my calendar with a specific task. that helps me get back into it.

Yeah that's one thing that I've noticed helps a lot is having a meeting right after my lunch. Preferably with a prospect.

always take a lunch. even if it's only 30 minutes, something at least. I found that when I didn't I ended up super lethargic towards the end of the day or even the week and it would all catch up to me. PLUS it threw off my metabolism, so when I did eat, my body didn't know what the hell to do.

Honestly, I would if I worked in the office. But being at home makes it difficult to skip lunch esp. with having a baby. Gotta give the hubby a break too.

I wouldn't mind skipping lunch every now and then tho.

I skip lunch more not being in the office. Something about being around a bunch of whiny sales folk that constantly asked me for "advice" but were only really fishing to get me to do their job for them made me take advantage of every chance to step out for a minute.

I definitely step away for a break. And I've found that even if I'm not specifically working, my brain is still processing things, formulating replies, responses, updates - all the things I need to do. When I return, I'm more productive and efficient than I had been if I wouldn't have gone for my hike.

I always do an afternoon walk with a coffee. If I hit my goals I buy something, if not I make some at home. Nice little reward plus get to chill out for a sec.

Im on the same boat! I was feeling that after taking my break and eating a big meal I felt tired af and would need coffee to wake back up and would take me some time to get back into it.
.
I know take my break when I feel that I need to, usually at around 3-4 I go for a walk, est something and then get back to it for a couple more hours.
