I welcome it wholeheartedly but it’s funny because the last time I received executive sales training from an outside trainer, there was a lot that seemed to conflict with my company’s approach which put things at odds and as a result, we weren’t able to extract full value but I put the company at fault for that, not the trainer.

To that point, I think unless the entire sales org is receiving the same sales training it can cause issues. Executive coaches can be valuable but I would focus on a communications coach or a more general business coach vs. a sales specific coach.

Fair points. I agree that General business coaching/Exec Coaching is awesome. I have loved the time I spend on that.

My last company ran a full L/D department that included sales coaches and I found more value in reading books. I'd be keen to give it another try though.

In my opinion, you should strive to have more than one mentor. I have several that don't work at my company but they are OG and one internal executive that I touch base with every month or so. Build your network and watch your career take off.
