exhausted working remotely but going to the office is equally exhausting

more of a vent here. working from home is great with the flexibility and other responsibilities. but when nothing else is going on it gets to be cumbersome. the day(s) I do go to the office, however, I get home completely exhausted not understanding how I did this every single day for five years. the social interactions are fine, I'm myself, but I find it exhausting at the end of the day. like we're all performing to get through it.

at home I do my regular routine, work, make dinner, workout. feels like one of those movie montages when you see people doing the same thing every single day. feels like a lose-lose at the moment and w layoffs I'm treading lightly even considering a new company.

post-pandemic woes.

Thereโ€™s also social fatigue when going in. You used to be kind of built for the non stop interactions and those skills and โ€œsocial musclesโ€ have atrophied over the last 2.5 years. Itโ€™s tough.ย

I agree with you. We had a work from home model but recently started office. My manager was quite happy with me working from home so I spoke to him and got the approval.

I feel you. I have no clue how I made it so many years commuting and working with no micro-breaks during my day.ย

I find the office exhausting after having gone remote for the pandemic.

I moved to a role that's full remote (one day/month in-office) and it's great.

I find the key is to get outside and break up your day. Having a crazy energetic dog that's only 14 months really helps with that.ย

Have kids and really throw a wrench into everythingโ€ฆ no but in all seriousness I relate to this and think about what Iโ€™d do if I win the lotto a lotย

Make sure you leave the home and break your day up.ย  ย A run or a trip to the store, or meeting a friend for lunch will help.ย  ย Otherwise, it may all blur and you will be feeling like it's Groundhog Day over and over.

im lucky enough that every quarter the team gets together for an onsite. I get to fly and stay in a nice hotel and chop it up for a few days.ย

there are also conferences a few times during the summer.ย

thats a nice break.ย

I am still working from home. Waiting on a new us visa. (hurry up USCIS) I can't wait to get back in the office...

Completely understand the fatigue, plus commuting... I used to audio book/podcast but that's an hour out of my day, everyday. It's going to be an adjustment for sure.ย

I'm tired of being the only one in a meeting on teams.

if i was the only person on my team that was remote I would find a new job or start coming into the office.ย

idk what everyone says that is the worse position to be in. shit is happening without you in this case.ย
Glad your getting back into the office
