Experimenting on LinkedIn

Experimenting over email with A/B tests has been common at companies I’ve worked at but I haven’t seen anyone actively tracking how they’re performing with different types of connection requests on LinkedIn.

Curious to know how my fellow soldiers are tracking their different types of messaging on LI and when you decide it’s time to adjust.

Every connection request I send has a personal message. I don't accept people that don't put any effort into a message, so why should they accept me if I did the same?

I’ve found my highest connection rate is by just sending a blank connection request.

Interesting. Does that seem to yield good conversion from connection to first meeting/demo?

We A/B test almost everything. Calls with Voicemails, Calls without. Messages, Connecting with notes, without. It definitely depends on persona, timing, and product as well.

Very cool! As I'm early in my career I'm never quite sure when is too soon to abandon a certain tactic and when I'm holding on to something that isn't working. Given the amount of testing that you do, do you follow any number of prospects contacted (or other metrics) that tell you when to change tact?
