๐Ÿ”ฅ Expose my bosses for shitty behavior, or nah?

Two quick points:

  • Let your inner-anarchist free a little: wrong/exaggerated answers welcome
  • TL;DR โ€“ My bosses are out to fire me, but I've got the receipts to prove they're colluding against me. WWYD?

So a while back I posted about potentially spooking my new boss. Turns out I not only spooked them, but another person in leadership too. The two of them, for the last 8 weeks have been campaigning to make my work life miserable.

They arbitrarily increase quota, shorten deadlines, leave me out of strategic convos and use everything I say and do against me. They effectively manufacture reasons to reprimand me.

They've even gone so far as to put me on (what very closely resembles) a PIP, even though they didn't say it officially.

While I usually would brush this off and take the severance if it comes to that, I'm a little interested in setting fire to this box of fireworks and wanna know your thoughts ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

I've documented everything that's gone down and on paper, I've done nothing wrong but deliver exactly what they've asked of me. I've also got documentation of them treating me very differently than the rest of the team.

It's so bad that in my most recent performance review with them and HR, the HR team saw first-hand how shitty they speak to me and warned them to cut it out.

So with all this knowledge, I little want to go above their heads to HR, or the VP and share all this wonderful knowledge I have about their treatment of me.

I kinda have nothing to lose, and truly am waiting to get canned from them while I work on my next role.

But karma, or whatever.

What say you?

Right now you're on a subsidized job hunt. Keep feeding yourself with their money while you search. I'd hold the blowtorch back until you've got a clear destination. I'd also include a search for employment lawyers in between the job posts. You'll get clarity soon enough.

O.C. for the win! As always! Sage wisdom. I agree about holding back your blowtorch. I've found that SaaS sales is a small world. Don't burn a bridge if you can help it.

So you wanna make it spectacular? This is what I would do...

With all your documentation, I would go to the State Labor Board (assuming you're in the US) and go through the process of documenting a "hostile work environment". From there I would go find an employment lawyer and have them write up a "lawyer letter" (will cost you $$ though) and let management know it a "me or them" situation.

Its important to be proactive in something like this - if you wait for them to fire you, it won't have the same impact because those 2 managers will have made their case and you'll just look like a whiny crybaby.

Of course all this assumes you are leaving and just don't care.

Hr is to protect the company not you.
Start looking my friend. The writing is on the wall.
If you go above them be ready to get fired pretty fast or life to get even worse. Time to suck it up and just go w the flow.

Is it bad that I kinda wanna get fired at this point? LOL this is why I was wondering if I just light a match on this tinderbox.

That said, totally agree. Good call, SalesBeast.

If youโ€™re down to get fired or want to. Go to HR immediately and tell them whatโ€™s up. But also realize they might be pricks to you and will make life uncomfortable for a bit.
Not fun situation either way. Good luck with this one and keep us posted brother.

braintank, his profile says he's in Canada, you ONLY get unemployment IF you get fired. But you have to prove why they fired you, and it can't be because you did something bad for the company kind of thing.
Been fired before, I have left as well, getting fired is the easiest for unemployment.

Also you could start giving into all the phishing attempts in your spam folder...just some ideas.

I would definitely line up my next job FIRST, and THEN go to the VP or CEO. Leave HR out, I don`t think they would care in the end..

Totes fair. HR is absolutely useless in this scenario. Iโ€™ve got some irons in the fire for my next gig so itโ€™s just a matter of timing.

Nah. Just do what you got to do, and when they try to let you go use Dan Goodman to hook you up with a solid severance package

Burn them to leadership when they come to finally cut, until then record and track everything and land the next role.

Brother, start probing your clients as account manager that if they weren't with " your company " at the moment, who would they go with and why (features base, proximity, etc). Put this on an account review or coming feature or customer satisfaction survey.
Don't make it your mission to tell them you are moving out, but tell them you will connect on LI and keep their info stored on a USB drive if you know what I mean.
Best of luck

Yet another CEO that was a VP of Sales and is complaining about salespeople. Feel bad for the people that reported to these clowns.
