This is all about personal preference... so no offense to anyone who's there, but fuuuuuuck that. Zero interest in working for such a massive conglomerate. If you're chasing big logos to 'build cred' there's other places to go, I would also argue you'll learn way more at a smaller company where you'll have more responsibility and upward mobility. The alternative is being a cog in the machine at one of those places.

I'm sure other people have had good experiences, I just personally don't see the draw.

My 2cents, Good luck!

Equity doesn't matter unless your company does something with it. Too many people get sucked into these companies on the promise of equity, but then the company stays private, doesn't get bought, or isn't in a round of funding while you are there. They justify lower pay with increased "shares" that are meaningless unless a massive business change occurs. I am not saying don't work for companies that offer this kind of thing, but be selective with where you settle if equity in a private company is something you are after.

Underrated part of your comment is that you will learn much more at a company where you are more "valuable". At the FAANGs, if you suck, there are 100 others waiting to take your place. Hiring is not difficult for them. Well run, smaller companies invest more time in their new employees, give them more responsibility, and allow them to get more creative.

As long as you get it started there's no matter in the how. Get the ball rolling and soon you'll know what you like and don't like.

Yeah not for me, but you do you! Good companies with stellar pay/benefits I'm assuming. Looks pretty good on a resume too.

Don't want to burst the bubble, but FAANG companies likely won't hire any green sales people. If you can get in, amazing.

Not true at all. They all have Business Development roles open for new grads.

Hours at Amazon are insane. Google is largely known for not actually caring about its salespeople.

There are are better places to start your career. There are a number of orgs that promote their salespeople from the BDR/SDR role and take pride in having those people eventually assume leadership positions. I'd look for that.

I think this is a mixture of one's interests and the personal situation they're in. I personally know some people who just do sales in startups and jump ship as soon as the startup starts scaling up simply because their niche is a particular stage and they helped the startup with that phase

That's actually a good call. Some of my college friends got to managerial positions early because they started very early on a startup.
