Favorite sales role you've ever had (and why)?

What's the best sales gig you've ever had and why? Company culture, commission structure, dope ass product that you got to sell, etc.

BDR for a bougie dog food company. I got to run continuing education events for veterinarians and the product was so incredible that it basically sold itself. We also ran brick-and-mortar stores alongside our veterinary partnerships, so I LOVED having a team at our kitchen that knew me and that I got to roll up my sleeves and help cook delicious dog food and joke with the team of young people.

... Now I sell pet cremation services.

Not quite as fun.

Hahaha. That's quite the pairing from then to now. What made you leave the old job?

So my job as a BDR was to open kiosks inside veterinarians' lobbies to sell our dog food. Think of it like a Starbucks inside of a Target, where we would have one of our own employees manning the kiosk.

... Then COVID happened and all the lobbies were closed indefinitely. No lobbies, no kiosks.

I hung on for a year before the new CEO laid off my whole team two weeks before Christmas.

It really did. It was my dream job and my dream team. I don't think anything will ever touch it.

My new company is great, don't get me wrong.

... but it's just hard to get as excited about cremating pets. Hahaha

Man. You really did live a rollercoaster.

Pet caring to pet cremating.

and no sales to flowing sales.

Don't know if it's good or bad. I probably couldn't handle talking to all the grieving pet owners. Sorry, FORMER per owners/:

Current job I'm in by far. managing BD instead of selling. still can be stressful but its a different type of stress and much more manageable. Amazing company to work for, best leadership I've seen, and awesome pay/benefits.

I was a sales guy years ago, and very entrepreneurial role. Was tons of fun. Took me to a lot of dangerous places which I found exciting. And was incredibly high stakes.

It wasnt a sustainable job though. Not a lot of lifetime workers in that field. We used to joke that there wasn't a lifetime achievement award for the same reason there wasn't a retirees Vincent Black Shadow club.

Its one of the only things I've ever been addicted to. And I miss that job everyday.

My current role. Great earning potential, great culture, great management and co workers...I honestly have no complaints other than prospects but that's just the game.

First person in a marketing department. Unlimited budget, got to travel the entire country, worked directly for CEO, and had just about complete freedom. I would kill to have that job again.

I love being in an office and truly miss the collaboration of working with peers. Hearing talk tracks and sequences that works. Had a really good experience in the quasi-saas world

This job before we got acquired. Known my boss and teammates for years and we basically only answered to ourselves.
