Feeling burnt out?

I've been thinking more and more about just taking a few months to a year off to work on my own thing and reevaluate life goals, but really scared about the difficulty in rejoining the job market later down the road. I feel like hiring managers wouldn't even look at my resume if I took some real time off.

Have you ever done something like this?

I think its fine to do so. You can explain away a gap in your resume. Plus confidence and expierence will get you the job when you come back around. One yes and youre back in the game... as usual ๐Ÿ˜Š

Iโ€™ve always thought about doing this but have the same exact fear about rejoining the job market.

I would suggest talking to your company's HR team first, they may actually let you do that while still on the roster. We had an SDR manager a few years ago take a 6 month unpaid sabbatical for "mental health" reasons. When he came back they just had him pick up right where he left off.ย

It was unpaid obviously but he technically was still employed the whole time.

Now if you want to switch careers or change companies after the time off, obviously that doesn't help too much lol. In that case I think just have a very good answer to explain the gap, and I think you will be fine!

Hiring managers like entrepreneurial people IMO. If you have a few years experience and try to go out and do something for yourself, they will understand and even like it.ย

I have. It's soo worth it! yes, it is a bit harder to get back out there, but if you explain the reason behind it and your transmit your passion to the interviewer the job will be yours!
