Vintage and thrift shops are your friend. I have found some killer Mad Men styled dresses that are fucking awesome and like $10-$20.

Given the fact that I have a lot of tattoos to cover up, if you’re unsure then you can’t go wrong with a button up blouse and skirt/pants. Keds are perfectly acceptable footwear because they’re kinda cool and work with any look. I do have a set of pumps, boots and expensive low heeled ankle boots to mix it up if I want.

But for real, I don’t buy anything new. It’s not worth it. So many times I’ve bought second hand and the original tags are still on it. I’ve also been biking to the office so I’ll go in a pair of athletic leggings and crop top. Then when I’m there I’ll throw on a long shirt dress over top, a belt and cardigan (why do offices blast the AC btw?!?). Works fine. Not client facing, but is sufficient for the office dress code.

I normally wear dresses in the summer. It's too damn hot for much more. You could get a few fitted ankle pants, a few blouses,  and several different color cardigans and mix and match into different outfits.

Do you have an outlet mall near you? May help you stay within budget. Also try the Poshmark app. Or Old Navy.

JCrew and Banana Republic Factory online. Check those out too.

Express has some decent work dresses sometimes. I stick w neutral colors so I can reuse more often. Nordstrom. J Crew & Ann Taylor outlets for work specific dresses and suits (I’m not preppy in real life but their work stuff for chicks is solid!)

I dont usually dress up for work much because I’m selling to veterinarians who are normally covered in pee for our meetings. When I do have to dress up,I love dresses from J Crew and LOFT.

There are about 30 good threads on books. I would do “book” “books” and “sales books” in the search bar!
