Final Interview advice - Interview with my potential manager.

Hello Everyone, I hope you are having a great holiday!

I am going through interviews. And I have an interview coming up with who could be my manager.

I wanted to see if anyone had any advice to prepare for it and of questions that I should ask.

Anything will be appreciated!

Can you give some context if this is an AE or SDR position?

Got it - first and foremost, you'll want to get an idea of what the salescycle will look like for you such as - Are AEs expected to be full cycle from prospecting to close? If not, how many SDRs will be supporting you, what is quota attainment across other tenured AEs, what does onboarding look like. I'm guessing you have other typical questions such as commission structure covered.ย

Another important topic of questions will be around product market fit. E.g. how many competitors are there, how do you differentiate them, are there any competitors that frequently win deals when compared against, if so, why? If you're selling a very technical product - make sure to do research on how long your SA's/SE's typically stay, if it's a revolving door, you're gonna be in for a bad time.

ย Training - what kind of training can you expect to get to be as successful as possible. Ideally they have some kind of sales enablement program that will actually be worth your time instead of rehashed product-centric/marketing material.ย

All solid points here.

The only thing I'd add would be questions about cadences and reporting requirements, how quota is accounted for (monthly/quarterly), expectations for each AE and the team as a whole.

Good luck!

Ask them what their ideal candidate looks like & how they envision you in the role. Ask how you can help make their life easier. Ask about what sets the top reps aside. Ask about the territory. Ask about the comp plan. Ask about their management style & how they set up their reps for success. Ask about the training program and how they specifically develop reps. Just ask what youโ€™re wondering.
As far as preparing, make sure you have 5 great stories to tell about success & potentially failure. Always answer in the STAR format if u can.
