Final Interview Complete, But HM Wants to chat end of day next week

So basically,

Multiple interviews complete. Showed I can do the role and then some, blew things out the water, literally week after week interviews, no time wasted in getting followed up with and scheduling next steps, we are talking <24 hrs when scheduling next steps after an interview was completed.

But now, talk next week near end of day to touch base. No agenda for what we will talk about, was even asked if a general time, around 4pm would be good. Again, keep in mind all interviews complete, team members met, you name it.

Like wtf. I guess this is why they say don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

if a company is interested, they will make an offer, not ask you to wait around 5 more days to chat or whatever once more.

I don’t think I am wrong here in assuming I just keep pushing forward with other roles and companies. But damn, I can see why if someone is deciding between option A, B, C or whatever, they move when others move.

But anyways, seem like these situations result in a talk about not getting the job most times from what I hear.

What do you think?

Blow it up
^this, it's big in our industry and can take a while.

To keep good candidates I've let them know up front it is required and make them get a police letter as a condition in the offer of employment.

It might be the reason why.

hmm.. that is an interesting one. The only time something similar has happened to me was that the HM reached out the day after the final interview and asked if I had 10 min to chat.

He simply did that to congratulate me on getting the offer and asked if I was gonna accept it and discuss some additional small details about salary, etc.

I've had this too, HM called to let me know an offer was coming.

Devil's advocate: have you asked where the offer is? Tell them you've got other companies interested and need to make a decision.

Steady progression is good.  I would just chill.  The HM is probably just dealing with something internal (like all he has to do in life is hire you?!) or gathering all input from the interviewers.

Quite strange, you'd think there'd at least be some transparency in the process.

I don't you should count it as lost yet, but definitely keep looking.

i get why you are skeptical but the whole time im reading this im thinking the meeting is to tell you to expect an offer.

Seems like everything has been going well.

Have you been asking where you stand with them?

A good question to ask the HM especially towards the end is: "is there anything holding you back from extending and offer to me?"
have you asked anything like that?

Doesn't sound like you should be worried.

That being said, it's always a good idea to have multiple lines in the water. Best case scenario, employers enter a kind of "bidding war" to get you to sign with them. But that'll never happen if you put all your eggs in one basket.

All good advice everyone.

I did send a quick follow up email with some bullet points of my expectation for the call.

I did think asking for time to discuss came off as a bit ambiguous, so no harm no foul on shooting over some clarification I suppose.

Could very well be the exec is just super busy, and that’s the earliest time that was available.

Talking to the last three people I heard nothing but things like “you are definitely the type of person that would do well here” etc. etc. etc.

Either way. Keep pushing forward and see what happens.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but a moment of reflection. Who in your interview process has input towards hiring you?
During the process, were you ever second guessed on anything? If so, what?

If you think back, and step past the ego (we all have it), there's something and someone that is holding you back from being hired.

Once you figure that out, contact that person directly for feedback.  Shows initiative.

Matter of fact, contact each person for feedback.

Long story short, did not get the job, but they loved me, but are going with someone that has done the specific role right now.

First company I encountered where they actively want me to keep in touch, because it is likely I could get the job next time it opens up.
