Finding a Company

So I recently got let go of my job......... Sucks right?

No! I am actually quite excited to see all that I have learned and to take my tenacity, excitement, and drive to a company with an awesome product. I noticed that my last company did not train me very well, So I am looking for a great training procedure in place.

Here's a question:

What is something important that you look for as an AE, SDR, or BDR in a company before you join the team?

Market fit, leadership within the company is a must have. I don't care about advancement into management as I am over wanting to manage anymore. Just not worth the additional responsibility for me anymore.

Advancement in the company is a must, but how long do you think the employee should work there? for them to see advancement. @antiASK

There should be potential to see possible advancement within the first 6-12 months in my opinion.

Or at least direction or coaching on how to achieve advancement within the company by that time.

Makes sense,
I was gonna add on, let me know if you agree.

but the level of measurement should be based on performance and not time of employment in some cases not all the time but some.

What do you think?

Yes, there is a valid point to what you are saying, but there needs to at least be a time sample provided to ensure the most effective route. I'm all for performance over tenure, there just needs to be a confirmation with congruency in the individual's character and ability to perform.

Let's talk baseball. The scouters can get emotional and base their decision off the first time someone hits a homerun(then that person strikes out every other at-bat in the game) OR they can make an informed decision based on overall performance over a given period of time on AND off the field.

Scouters often go with number 2 because they were burned enough times by number 1.

Right,

I see what you are saying, there needs to be a sense of consistency and devotion to the role. Love that

Jefe-

i agree with that, I think if your value is radiant in the company and people are noticing you and what you bring to the table off the bat then growth in the company has to come. sorry Will come

PMF and growth potential. I donโ€™t want to sell something I donโ€™t believe in and I donโ€™t want to be an SDR/SMB AE any longer than I need to be

I agree, honestly if I don't like the product and I don't have interest I will not go to that company.

Great product and position in the market, good (if not outstanding) manager, support on deals (SC, product reps, etc). Advancement is not important to me at this stage, but if it is for you, consider that - OR view your new company as a solid stepping stone in that they should provide training and support and help you develop so that you're an attractive candidate when the next step opportunity comes around.

This is good, I think it is important if we have upper employment engage with us most of the time.

Why? because there is a sense of comfort and caring for the employees that will make me want to stay.

Sales Management
I look at:

Product (is it new, cutting edge, unique)
Market (is the market/TAM growing annually)
Role (title, comp)

Additional things I look for to ensure I have a fighting chance of actually selling the product:

Customer usage of the product (is it sticky).

Time to value. (How quick do customers see value in the product)

How long is the sales cycle
