I have to let someone go. We are remote, but have met in person a few times. Our office is use is optional. Should I let him go virtually or get him to meet me at the office?

FACTS.
Personally - I would keep it consistent. If normally you would meet for other things virtually, I would go that route. If you go to the office it's not normal to go into the office... they will realize something is up AND you had them travel to the office just to be let go. That'd be rough.

Just let someone go today, due to poor performance. Via phone. They have a time sched to drop off stuff tomorrow. Sad but had to be done.

Well, today we cant do it in person so not fair. But if option is there in person every single time

Virtual and have HR send shipping labels to return the equipment.
I feel like in person is the right way to do it. It might be awkward but I feel like its the right thing to do instead of letting them go via zoom.
