First AE Hire of The Company Got Canned - No Loyalty in Sales? ($0-$1.8M)

The first-ever account executive hire of the company who has been working here since the company began has just gotten fired.

This made me question if my manager had any remorse for firing him? The AE has built up the team from the ground up leading to $0 to $1.8M in ARR. I am sure he was super tight with the manager given how long they have worked together and the hardships they faced.

How long did they work there? How big is the team?

This is a series A I assume...

Based on your post history: once this summer stint is done go back to school and never look back at this place. Everything you describe reeks of disfunction. Let alone needing a team of people to get to $1.8M in sales (no offense but there are years where I've done almost that much myself).

This company is a shit company and should serve as an example of where not to work once you graduate.

Keep your head down the next few weeks and gtfo.

๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ it is a series A valued at $100M
our avg deal size is really small since itโ€™s a subscription.

Valued by whom?

50x ARR valuation on SaaS is incredulous

None of this makes any sense, that valuation is looney tunes.

Also I'd be willing to bet a significant amount of money that there is a lot more to the story about why this AE was fired.

so this company probably sucks.

Also, the person that can get a company from 0 - 1.8MM might not be the same person to get them to $5MM.

sometimes its just a different skillset idk.

I didnt do any of the research that @braintankdid, but, did they deserve it? Why were they fired?

I have fired people before that I had worked with for a long time and had strong relationships with, but they operated way outside of our ethical/moral compass and had to let them go.

There might be more to the story?

To your broader point: no, there is no loyalty in sales.

Or company loyalty to employees.

That sounds shitty... As a sales person I stay loyal to the greenback first, then loyal to my leadership 2nd, and 3rd to the company.

I was hired at a really good start up about 4 months ago for a SDR role that I was told I wouldnโ€™t be in for very long. Theyโ€™re gonna go public in the next year, but Zoom Info reached out to me about an Account exec position. Now Iโ€™m wondering if I should take the guaranteed route to AE or let my shares vest and get to AE at the place that took me. Usually I wouldnโ€™t consider jumping so quickly, but AE is AE.
