First Day of Q2....What's Your Play?

I am looking for honest feedback from sellers and SDRs. My VP of Sales and myself argue about this all of the time - and I'm looking for some candid feedback as a seller/SDR how you approach today.

Appreciate the feedback from everyone!

It still is Thursday... If the quarter ends on a Thursday then that Friday I could see easing off the gas, but with two full work days left in the week I say go.ย

Took today and Friday off to recharge. Our teams manager recommends it. Pretty thoughtful.ย

Gotta pace yourself. That 24/7 grind lifestyle is dead.

it was mostly bullshit and people posturing in the first place.... If it really takes you 60 hours a week to get the job done every single week, then maybe you should look at how you're actually spending your time.

Sales is not rocket science, or med school. It's more like the marines. Hours and weeks of monotony followed by critical moments and brief highs before you're back in the trenches.

The play depends on how Q2 went. Context is everythingย

I'm in a hybrid contributor/management role, so a little different. however, I think it depends a ton on how you did in Q1. I had a great Q1 and totally unplugged Friday. Hitting it hard Monday though. Recharge time is huge I think if you can afford to take it.

how'd you finish?

if you blew it out, got left at the alter, left it all on the field but had had deals push, it could be a day to step away.ย

If you're behind on your number or trying to get ahead, then first day of the Q is no different than the last day of the Q.

It's going to depend on a number of factors including standings, w2, mental health, wtf is going on in your life outside of work, how hard you've really been going.ย

I had an early career mentor, long before I got into sales who had a military background.ย "Excuses are there for those that need them." I think stepping away to recharge or taking a day is minor in the big picture. It can give you some breathing room.

With a toddler, there's not much personal time for me on the weekends, so sometimes I gotta just take a day in the middle of the week. Fortunately my boss knows me well, and trusts me, so the answer isย "do what you need to do."

I agree this isn't sustainable at all and not a way to run a sales org.
