First US Sales Role - From overseas

Hey guys! After working in marketing for an year now, I want to get into sales.

Why? I enjoy talking to people. and as part of my startup journey, I had to reach out to people and it was not a bad experience. (Though I didn't close much..... Sorry)

Looking for an entry level sales role (preferably in US, with remote work - from India)

As long as I am not doing anything unethical - hard emotional manipulation or stuff, I'm good with the company and role.

suggestions / guidance??

P.S. I was among the first ones to join, but was inactive for a LONG time. So back now.

Unfortunately itโ€™s an uphill battle from reading past posts. I think itโ€™s going to be a numbers game with applying to a lot of roles.

Thanks @Kosta_Konfucius

Guess I'll try that. If you have any suggestions, do share.... As I barely even know of companies in US. Or where to find the suitable listings.

It definitely is an uphill battle. I was just reading some LinkedIN post the other day as well.

We've been hearing from those not in the US that it's very hard to get a job working for a US company from overseas. There are many reasons for this. A suggestion I had earlier is to look into US companies that have a presence in India, and see if that is an easier path.

Good luck!

That's a very good suggestion.

The challenge comes up - HUGE pay gap. These companies, if a strong presence in India, are paying only USD500 (or less!) to new entrants.

Usually the pay scale is revealed at the end. and I have seen it as low as $350 a month ๐Ÿ˜ถ

Unfortunately, the US has a glut of applicants, and no concerns about having to reconcile with the rules and regulations of other countries (tax laws, etc) when hiring internally. I figured if a company has a presence already, they are well-versed in the laws, are prepared to meet them, and present the best chance to get a position.

I wouldnโ€™t say it a big chunk of money but thatโ€™s how the balanced economy works. You will never earn the same money for the same role in two different countries :)

I would agree 100% to โ˜€๏ธy๐Ÿฐyโ€™s suggestion!

Dont want to be a downer but it likely is a fruitless cause trying to find a remote sales job in the US from India. You got to bear in mind that the market isnt as desperate for workers as it was a year ago and with more and more companies laying off workers, the market is become more saturated with domestic sales people who will get first dibs on sales jobs.

Your experience is likely going to set you even further back as I highly doubt anyone is really looking for unskilled remote sellers in India. As Sunnybunnys suggestion, try look for international companies that are looking for workers in your domestic market, dont limit yourself to the US and build up from there. Dont come to sales expecting a huge wage from the start, most start from very little and work their way up, thats the beauty of sales, you are your only limiting factor usually but you have to start somewhere and usually it helps not to not have too many expectations at least to start with.

Congrats on realizing you have been living a pathetic life in marketing. Best of luck on becoming a winner

Sales from another country may be difficult to find the US.
