First week in, apparently already behind the 8 ball

Holy shit, I just started working at this place in December, got a taste of year end craziness and according to the VP we're already way behind in January just 3 days in (1/4 FY start). WTF is that?? SKO isn't for a couple of weeks, but they're worried about not hitting first week goals. Shit, can we let the customers tell their holiday stories to each other and get over Omicron before we start harassing them?

Yeah, I’m OK with that, it’s more transactional than enterprise but the point is, short first week of the year, let’s not get carried away. This is reflection & planning time, it’s OK to “miss” the weekly goal to do better down the line. NO DAYS OFF!

This is what happens when reps forecast deals to close in the first week of the year, knowing full well that sure as shit isn't happening.

Managers need to just stop reps from forecasting carry over business to the first week of the month unless there is a docusign in hand and someone has committed to a date.

I'd love to see what the VP is doing to help...oh, they've done nothing? What a surprise.

Weekly goals on the first week back? Yikes. Half of the clients I'm working with had Monday off so that doesn't even give you a full week

I’m not picking up what your putting down here. It’s massively important to hit the ground running with a sense of urgency out of the gate, especially with external factors to distract your clients and prospects. Every market is so competitive these days, you are either the sales team who’s urgent or the sales team that loses the deal.

Man, from an AE perspective, this shit is so offputting. This kills enthusiasm and makes people tune leadership out.

Maybe I'm missing context but that sounds like a leader who acts mainly on emotion. My last CEO was like this and he torpedoed every fucking initiative by freaking out at something small and then switching to something new.
So no project or launch was ever really completed.

With the Eagles looking terrible the past two weeks should I just assume the Phillies will choke their playoff chances away?
