Ehhh I think it's pretty obvious in the first 3 seconds that it's a cold call. People are so trained to be resistant to the term "cold call".

I always call out that it's a cold call without saying those words. I use "I realize I'm calling out of the blue..." or "I know you're not expecting my call and..."ย

Fair point - calling out the elephant is key but without actually using the words cold call. I like it, thanks

You'll never get past the GK this way for sure. And I agree with being direct, but think about how you would respond to this if someone called you right before a meeting or as you were walking out, etc.ย

If you are going to take this route I would at least have warmed them up with an email or social touch.ย

Yeah 100% not something to use on a GK. The example is more of calling your prospect when you know you have their cell. But definitely, you want to have some more name recognition through other touches as well.ย

I avoid the term โ€œcold callโ€. Usually say something similar though like:
โ€hey ___, Iโ€™m calling from {company} to talk about our platform and how {benefit or whatever}. Itโ€™ll take like 5 mins and if it doesnโ€™t make sense to continue the convo we can end it there sound good?โ€

wicked success rate on saying shit like that but my SaaS is the easiest sell so maybe Iโ€™m ruined by a lack of adversity.ย

Same as salesnerd - "Hey/Hi Name, Do you 27 secs? I recognise I'm calling you out of the blue...."
