For those in SaaS did you demo/present/meet in person prior to covid?

I’m just curious what the average is. I know I always sold remotely over zoom so covid made zero difference. I’m sure the price of software plays a factor but I’m curious what’s the norm and what type of jobs result in travelling.

Did you travel for the purpose of presentations/demos or was it all over zoom/erc

I used to spend 2-3 days a week in different states. Hopefully we get to go back to in person meetings soon.

I think you work enterprise sales though right? What’s your ACV?

I did both. I sell saas into an old school industry (mortgage banking), so face-to-face interaction is important. The average deal size is about 50-60k/year. If the prospect is large enough it warrants a trip.

In the good old days, I would typically do 1-2 trips per month, each for about 2-3 days. There was lots of traveling for conferences and networking events too, and during the busy conference season I was doing more like 4-5 trips per month.

Honestly, I miss it a lot. It broke up the grind really well. Now it's just cold calls and staring at a screen all day.

I'd love to do more in-person meetings, but covid has thrown a wrench in that

I've been with my current org for about 10 years now and we've always done online meetings via Zoom or very similar software. The only time we do in person demos is when we go to trade shows or just so happen to be working with a local client.
