sales
I hated sales. I didn't realize the opportunity I had in front of me to make money and load up my paycheck. After I figured it out I poured myself into it.

I actually got a lucky start, but am curious to hear from the rest!

Shit the bed my first fully ramped quarter as an AE.  Literally 33% to quota during a year where finance (accidentally) blessed us with great comp plans and everyone else was crushing it.  The AE I supported as an SDR encouraged me to put together a plan with actionable steps including a ton of self-sourced prospecting to get myself back on track.  Then proactively schedule a meeting with my manager to walk her through the plan prior to team QBRs.  Got promoted less than a year later with support from said manager -- but damn swallowing my pride and putting the whole miss to quota on myself and not attributing any of it to a shit territory was tough.

hey congrats man! I am still learning to be better, sometimes I over-crush and many times I don't but I love sales.

A small local SaaS company was the only company to give me multiple interviews. I had told myself I didn’t want to work in sales at all before this. I started and only lasted about half a year making 100-150 cold calls a day trying to one call close prospects. I thought this was all sales was and I burned out quick. I was one of the last people in my hiring class of 20 still there. There was an internal conflict at one point and I ended up leaving. A friend of mine just started as an SDR at a more reputable company and told me about that role and referred me. Been working in sales since then.
